Leda and the Swan

I was introduced to the Greek mythological story of "Leda and the Swan" when I had to copy a masters drawing in figure drawing class. I rendered Michelangelo's version but wanted to produce my own as well.

The story states that Zeus came to Leda in form of swan. He raped or seduced Leda on the same night she had been with her husband King Tyndareus. She then laid two eggs from from which children hatched.

I was attracted to this story because of the possible imagery and erotic undertones that could be used. I decided to keep this piece black and white and used ink only. The details in the background and on the feathers took quite a bit but all in all I think its a successful piece.
