Leda and the Swan

I was introduced to the Greek mythological story of "Leda and the Swan" when I had to copy a masters drawing in figure drawing class. I rendered Michelangelo's version but wanted to produce my own as well.

The story states that Zeus came to Leda in form of swan. He raped or seduced Leda on the same night she had been with her husband King Tyndareus. She then laid two eggs from from which children hatched.

I was attracted to this story because of the possible imagery and erotic undertones that could be used. I decided to keep this piece black and white and used ink only. The details in the background and on the feathers took quite a bit but all in all I think its a successful piece.

My Little Toto

Working on Wizard of Oz characters. Toto seems to always be a second thought, but in fact... he plays a huge part in this story. If it wasn't for him, Dorothy would have never made it to Oz. In building his character, I decided to make him adorable yet very expressive especially with his eyes. :)

Figure Drawings

I took some pictures of some figure drawings I did recently in a figure drawing class. They were pretty short poses.

paintings

Here are a couple paintings I did a couple years back. The one with the two girls is an acrylic painting on canvas. The second one is titled , "Scott and Skeleton." It is an oil painting of my boyfriend along side a skeleton. I am exploring colors, patterns and layering in both.
